A recent law firm client said, “I feel like I’m spinning my wheels with my marketing. I’m not getting traction. Nothing I’m doing is sticking.”
So, we got everyone into the same room for a strategic planning meeting to see how the team could find ways to solve their marketing puzzle.
This is what we learned:
🧩One of the lawyers is known for her ability to make people feel comfortable in her presence. We put her in charge of networking.
🧩One of the new associates is very comfortable with social media platforms. We put her in charge of developing the firm’s LinkedIn presence.
🧩 One of the lawyers spends a lot of time on the phone with clients, but has a lot of other family obligations. We put her in charge of client feedback, asking her to spend a few minutes on each already scheduled check-in asking clients to talk about the issues that are important to them right now.
The point of all this?
Speak to your team’s strengths when you’re asking them to get involved in marketing your law firm. Don’t make them do things they’re not comfortable with or qualified to do. Set them up for success by assigning them tasks they can actually accomplish.
